We provide a diverse range of activities and opportunities for adult learners of all abilities to explore and be inspired by our collections.
Our events programme covers various themes including family history, conservation, research skills, house history, local history and more!
We offer:
We offer a range of services to support students with their further and higher education studies and we regularly work in partnership with our local colleges and universities.
We can help you with:
We are happy to offer advice to lecturers planning on sending or bringing students to the archive. We advise students to leave plenty of time for research and to have a look at our online catalogue before they make an appointment. Sometimes particular documents are held off site and we may not be able to produce them on the same day they are ordered.
We offer planned sessions for ESOL students and other English language learning groups. Our sessions are inspired by original archive collections and cover themes such as travel, local history, home and family, food, crime, conservation, and much more.
Each session includes opportunities for speaking, listening, reading, writing, problem solving, teamwork and self-assessment and can be adapted to suit different levels of learners.

We exist to serve our local communities and love to hear from groups who are interested in exploring the collections we look after.
We regularly host visits and tours for groups at our archive offices and can provide talks and training as part of our outreach programme.
Please note some of our services are chargeable.
For more information about organising any of the above, please contact us.
We host family drop in events with free activities including arts and crafts, storytelling and drama and provide an opportunity to get inspired by our archive collections as a family. Artist led and bookable activities may incur a small charge.
