There are many ways in which you might have made an archaeological find.
Perhaps you picked up something while you were out walking or digging the garden. Perhaps you've uncovered something while doing house repairs. Perhaps you've been involved with a school history or archaeology project and want to make the best of your discoveries.
If that's the case then these Beginner Guides are for you. Although they are not a comprehensive finds catalogue, they will give you some basic ideas of what features to look for to help identify your finds. Much of the emphasis is on post-medieval finds, because that's what people are most likely to find in topsoil.
