Due to a significant workload, Archaeological Services WYAS are seeking to recruit field archaeologists and supervisors for excavation. Initial six-month contracts will be offered, with permanent roles available in time, based on workload and suitable career progression. Casual employment may be an option for field archaeologists if suitable for the candidate (e.g. post-graduate student wanting part-time, flexible hours).
The positions are based in Morley, West Yorkshire and would be ideal for candidates looking to commute from Leeds, York, Bradford or Sheffield. While some of the fieldwork is based in Yorkshire, regular away work should be expected. Accommodation, expenses and an overnight allowance are provided whenever you are away.
We are looking for enthusiastic candidates with a great attitude. Opportunities to cross skill to geophysics may be available. Applicants for these posts will have a degree in archaeology or a related discipline, and a full UK driving licence.
Applicants for the supervisor post should have at least 2-3 years of experience in commercial archaeology. In the interview, you will need to communicate well and demonstrate an ability to supervise others.
