Field Archaeologist (Excavation)

Wednesday 14 August to Friday 20 September

Field Archaeologist for Excavation

Post number: WYJS: 10-24

Salary: WY04 up to £25,979 (Local Authority pay award pending)

Positions are available for an immediate start for the right candidate, so early applications recommended.

Due to a significant workload, Archaeological Services WYAS are seeking to recruit field archaeologists for excavation. Initial six-month contracts will be offered, with permanent roles available in time, based on workload and suitable career progression. Casual employment may be an option if suitable for the candidate (e.g. post-graduate student wanting part-time, flexible hours).

The positions are based in Morley, West Yorkshire and would be ideal for candidates looking to commute from Leeds, York, Bradford or Sheffield. While some of the fieldwork is based in Yorkshire, regular away work should be expected. Accommodation, expenses and an overnight allowance are provided whenever you are away.

We are looking for enthusiastic candidates with a great attitude. Opportunities to cross skill to geophysics may be available. Applicants for these posts will have a degree in archaeology or a related discipline, and a full UK driving licence.

Applicants will ideally have some experience of commercial archaeology and good communication skills.

Our standard week is 37 hours. The posts are advertised as full time (unless casual employment is requested). All appropriate training and high-quality PPE are provided.

Closing date: Friday 20th Sept at 17:00.
