This half day course is aimed at caterers including takeaways and sandwich shops and provides an introduction to allergens. It includes a comprehensive overview of the 14 allergens covered by the legislation and will cover the sale of food online as well as going through due diligence procedures and systems that can be implemented to prevent the presence of undeclared allergens in food. 

 

Course Outline:

This half day course covers a number of topics regarding food allergens, including:

  • Legal Requirements
  • Identification of the 14 allergens detailed in the legislation.
  • What’s expected of food businesses – what are your responsibilities
  • Overview of the current consultation and changes in relation to food prepacked for direct sale.
  • Selling food online e.g. ordering food via social media or a website.
  • How to achieve compliance
  • Marketing claims and the sale of food by distance means is also covered. In addition, the training will allow discussion around how to prevent any non-conformities and identify options when things go wrong. 
  • General overview of other food standards requirements for your business.
