Leeds Collections

The Leeds Collections include:

  • Local authority records dating from the 17th century to the present day; from Leeds Township and corporation through to today's Leeds City Council
  • Court records, including Leeds Quarter Sessions records from 1698
  • Church records for the Church of England Diocese and for many nonconformist churches
  • Records, such as wills, covering a wide geographical area including Craven, Ripon and Harrogate
  • Records of the Yorkshire County Cricket Club (1861 to the present day)
  • A wealth of family and estate records including manorial court rolls and the records of Fountains Abbey, Studley Royal and Ripley Castle and building and furnishing details of Temple Newsam and Newby Hall
  • Collections representing the commercial life of the area with textile, clothing, engineering and mining records which include Kirkstall Forge, Middleton Colliery and Tetley's Brewery
