Opening hours

 From 4th October 2021

We are offering a limited service to visitors who need to access our original documents for their research.  All visitors are required to book their visit and order documents at least one week in advance. Some records are held in an outstore and may take longer to make available.  Please do not travel to our building without having received confirmation of your booking.

Open days:

Monday 09.45am-4.30pm (closed 12-1pm)

Tuesday 09.45am-4.30pm (closed 12-1pm)

Temporarily closed on Thursdays

To adhere to social distancing guidelines there will be 2 visitor spaces available in the searchroom.  You must order your documents at least one week in advance of your planned visit.  Some records are held in an outstore and may take longer to make available. Staff will be able to advise you on how to access catalogues if you are unsure of the document reference numbers you need.  Please note that there is currently a limit on 6 documents per person, per visit.

To help ensure that our spaces are safe for both public and staff, and that we are following government guidelines, please read the office guidance before planning your visit. 

We will be unable to provide many of our other usual searchroom services, including, access to microfiche, card indexes and paper catalogues.


  • No refreshment facilities are available but some cafes are a short walk away
  • Public lockers are provided free of charge 

How to find us      

WYAS Bradford is based in Bradford Local Studies Library. The entrance is on the side of Margaret McMillan Tower.

Car Parking

The closest council car park is the Sharpe Street car park. Details for local car parks can be found on Bradford Council’s Car Park information page.  Disabled parking is available off Sharpe Street to the side of the Library.

Train and Bus

We are close to Bradford Interchange Railway Station and Bus and Coach Station
