Environmental Impact Assessments are only applicable to projects that have the potential to have significant environmental effect. At Archaeological Service WYAS we can compile the Cultural Heritage and Archaeology section of the Environmental Impact Assessment on behalf of clients.
The Cultural Heritage and Archaeology section of an Environmental Impact Assessment details all of the work that has been undertaken to understand the Cultural Heritage Context of the site in which the proposed development sits.
The method used for assessing the potential effects of the proposed development on the heritage receptors (such as listed buildings, monuments, etc.) will conform to the regulatory framework set out in the Town and Country Planning Regulations.
To help with this, a data search from the relevant Historic Environment Record (HER) will be undertaken, with relevant study of detailed photographs. Site visits are often recommended so that the archaeologist can get a real sense of space and identity.
We have over 30 years’ experience of providing first class archaeological services across both the private and public sectors. Consequently, we have great relationships with local Historic Environment Records offices and contacts across heritage organisations.
In addition, because we offer a wide range of archaeological services, then we can continue to assist you if the site needs further exploration. Through appropriate investigation, we work closely with our clients to ensure that there is no undue delay to construction programmes.
