This excavation undertaken in advance of a proposed housing development in North Yorkshire revealed a multi-period site with the landscape exploited from the Bronze Age through to the medieval period. Initial land use of the site comprised the establishment of a large boundary or land division in the Bronze Age. This was then used as a focus for later settlement in the late Iron Age and early Romano-British period, which includes evidence of domestic occupation. During the 3rd and 4th century AD, the focus moved to the western side of the land boundary and a large Romano-British ladder settlement was established. Later land use was also identified towards the north of the site and comprised a medieval enclosure.
