West Yorkshire Joint Services provide varied services delivered by a wide range of different professionals: both in the front line of service delivery (archivists, archaeologists, chemists and other scientific disciplines and trading standards officers) and in supporting roles (general and financial administration and ICT)
West Yorkshire Joint Services are committed to promoting careers within the professions employed to deliver their services. As part of this West Yorkshire Joint Services can offer students a one or two week work placement.
Placements are offered to those who would like to gain experience in one of the fields West Yorkshire Joint Services has to offer. It will give the student some idea of what the job would be like and the chance to see how their skills need to be developed before doing that job.
West Yorkshire Joint Services can offer placements to students aged 16 years or older.
To apply for a placement, students need to make a request in writing, outlining their experience, detailing why they wish to undertake it and what they envisage getting out of a placement. It may be useful to discuss a placement with a manager in a Service area prior to making an application. This can be arranged via Human Resources (see contact details below).
In order to administer requests for work placements fairly, applications need to be received by the dates detailed below:
