Archaeological Services WYAS marching to Eboracum this June

Thursday 25 May

As the armies of Rome march to York for the second Eboracum festival from 1-4 June 2017, archaeologists from Archaeological Services WYAS will be joining them to run the archaeology tent on the Saturday and Sunday.

The festival sees a wide range of exciting events and activities for all the family taking place, from Roman parades to ghost tours, and from a Roman fashion show to a live archaeological hunt for York’s amphitheatre.

The four day event highlights the depth and breadth of life in Roman York and as part of that, the archaeology tent is where you can take part in a range of archaeological activities. These will be guided by professional archaeologists from Archaeological Services WYAS. Experience the many ways in which archaeologists record and interpret sites and artefacts with the most up-to-date technologies. Come and have a go at digital 3D modelling of Roman objects and geophysical surveying of the York Museum Gardens.

So any budding archaeologists or history lovers, come to Eboracum and find out more about our ancient past and how you could help to discover it.
